Our Story

Griffin Academy of Inquiry came about as many educational programs do: from a parent with limited or no options. After years of advocating tirelessly with limited results and no school options that truly met Gifted or Twice-Exceptional students’ needs, I realized it was time to create meaningful change myself. Currently, my family lives in a Gifted/2E desert. We have tried public school, private school, online school, co-ops, cottage schools, and homeschooling. While something would work “well enough” or “for a while,” nothing truly fit. After much encouragement from other moms, both online and in person, I finally rolled up my sleeves and said enough was enough. Griffin Academy of Inquiry was born from the idea that our students deserve more. It is a place to build a community of families who are looking for the right fit and a place where we can all be ourselves, in all our quirky uniqueness.

Meet the Instructor

Bela Sage is a mom to five twice-exceptional (2E) children, from elementary through high school. Through her family’s journey, she has witnessed firsthand the challenges that arise from a lack of understanding about giftedness, 2E learners, and neurodiversity.

In addition to her lived experience, Bela brings more than 25 years of professional experience working with children of all ages. She has served as a nanny, a before- and after- school teacher, a museum educator, a teacher in a dedicated online program, and an instructor with a local homeschool co-op.
